The Ultimate Guide to 2026 Etsy Design & Print on Demand Design Trends

Oh hey there!

If there’s one thing I know after running a multi six-figure Print on Demand business and teaching thousands of students how to launch their own Digital Product and POD businesses on Etsy, it’s this:

Design trends change FAST and the sellers who recognize and utilize these trends are always ahead and winning.

Some of the most common questions I get from new Etsy sellers or POD business owners are:

“What should I actually be designing right now?”

“What colors are the best to use in my designs?”

“What products are trending and what should I focus on?”

And the reason these questions come up so much is because most new sellers don’t struggle with motivation (because most people are excited to start) they struggle with CLARITY.

There’s no shortage of ideas online, but there is VERY little guidance on what actually converts into sales on Etsy. So today I am here to flip the script and change all of that! This is your no-fluff, no-guesswork breakdown of the Etsy Design Trends + Print on Demand design trends that actually matter for 2026. These aren’t random ideas or trendy for a week fads, these are trends already picking up steam and are set to DOMINATE Etsy throughout the year.

But where are my manners, let me introduce myself real quick…

Hey there! I’m Shay Lynn

I am a top 1% Etsy Seller, am the proud owner of a multi-six figure Print on Demand & Etsy Business, a six-figure Shopify Business, and creator of the Print on Demand Playbook. In my first year on Etsy, I did $250,000 in sales running my very own Print on Demand and Etsy business. Now, I have generated 7 figures in online sales and help others start their business adventures!

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s dive into this thing and let me tell you the EXACT Design Trends that you need to be tapping into in 2026. So go and get a pen and paper, a drink, hot cheetos, or whatever you’re into and write this stuff down!

The Top 10 Etsy Design and POD Design Trends To Sell In 2026

1) Hyper‑Personalized Products (Not Just Names Anymore)

Personalization isn’t new however, hyper-personalization is where Print on Demand is really headed in 2026. The old way was simple: toss someone’s first name on a product and call it a day. That still exists, but honestly, buyers expect MORE bang for their buck in 2026. Today’s customers want products that feel SUPER intentional, emotional, and story-driven. Not just customized but curated specifically for them or their events.

Instead of a single name, shoppers now want to upload multiple photos, add names, dates, locations, and meaningful details, and create products that capture a real moment in time. Think photo blankets made from family pictures, puzzles designed from a vacation memory with the family name, coaster sets featuring four to six different photos, mugs that combine images with important dates, or pet products where customers submit five to ten photos of their animals. These products don’t just look good they mean something to these customers. (examples of best sellers down below!)

And it doesn’t stop there. We’re also seeing a huge rise in altered photos, where customer images are turned into cartoons, watercolors, or stylized illustrations that can then be used across multiple products like wall art, puzzles, mugs, and even vector outlines for embroidery. Adding these types of products is the future of POD and Etsy Trends in 2026.

2) Embroidered Products

Embroidery has been quietly picking up steam over the last 2 years, but 2026 is where it really takes off.

Why? Two big reasons:

1) Printify continues to roll out more and more embroidery‑friendly products, sweatshirts, hats, apparel, which honestly makes it easier than ever for POD sellers to enter this space.

2) (and this is huge), AI mockup technology has completely changed the game. Platforms like Kittl now allow you to create hyper‑realistic embroidered text and designs. When customers can clearly see what embroidery will look like before buying, their hesitation drops and conversions go WAY up for higher quality products like embroidery.

Embroidery is premium. It feels elevated. And when the mockups actually match the finished product, buyers feel confident clicking “Add to Cart.”

If embroidery has felt intimidating in the past, then let this be your sign: 2026 is YOUR YEAR to lean in.

3) Ying to Yang Products

One of my favorite emerging trends for 2026 is what I like to call yin-to-yang products. These are coordinating products designed to work together. Each item stands on its own, but when paired, they tell a complete story. Think back to old-school best friend necklaces: two separate pieces that only fully make sense when they come together. That same concept is now being reimagined in Print on Demand products, and this trend is performing incredibly well on Etsy. (examples of best sellers down below 👇)

Puzzle-piece designs that connect through dates or coordinates, or paired apparel where one piece is white with blue embroidery and the other is blue with white embroidery. The magic is in the contrast and the connection! Buyers love that each person gets their “half,” while the meaning lives in the set as a whole. And the best part is, the profits are higher on these because people are typically buying a set.

This trend is especially powerful in emotional, relationship-driven niches like:

  • Couples and anniversary gifts

  • Wedding and engagement gifts

  • Best friend gifts

4) Circus Aesthetic

Now I know what you’re thinking… your mind probably just went straight to clowns (haha). And no 😅 I’m definitely not saying you should start selling clown products. When I say circus aesthetic, I’m talking about incorporating striped patterns (think circus tents), playful and charming vintage-style fonts, and whimsical design elements that have a slight retro edge. It’s fun without being over the top, which is exactly why this trend is resonating so strongly with buyers right now.

And the data backs it up. Pinterest searches for circus-inspired interiors are up 130%, circus art is up 35%, and vintage circus aesthetic searches have climbed 70%. This trend fits great into home decor products like statement wall art, especially for bold interiors and eclectic home decor lovers. If you’re in the Print on Demand space, this trend is popping off especially with modern colorful palettes (because millennial grey is SO out in 2026).

5) Patina Blue, Icy Blue & Glacial Blue

Color trends matter way more than most sellers realize. Etsy has officially named Patina Blue as a Color of the Year, and we’re already seeing icy blue and glacial blue rapidly show up in best-selling designs ALL OVER Etsy. Color plays a massive role in what we’re naturally drawn to as consumers, especially when a color starts showing up repeatedly across platforms like Etsy and Pinterest.

Including patina blue directly within your designs, as well as using mockups that reflect this color, has been incredibly effective. For example, Comfort Colors®️ shirt mockups in the Blue Jean shade have been performing exceptionally well, and patina blue design elements are already tied to countless bestsellers on Etsy’s platform. Buyers subconsciously gravitate toward what feels current and familiar, and trending colors create that sense of relevance instantly. Weaving these cool toned blues into both your designs and your mockups can give you a serious edge because this trend is only picking up speed.

6) Whimsical, Hand‑Drawn Aesthetic (Modern Cottagecore)

This aesthetic started gaining traction in late 2025, and it’s absolutely not going anywhere as we move through 2026. Think hand-drawn, playful, imperfect-on-purpose graphic designs, paired with whimsical, hand-drawn and cursive-style fonts that feel organic and human. It’s charming, approachable, and intentionally a little imperfect but polished enough to feel elevated and cute.

This style is performing especially REALLY well across bachelorette gifts, wedding decor, religious products, and feminine lifestyle niches because it feels personal and thoughtfully designed rather than mass produced generic slop. It’s cozy without feeling dated, soft without being boring, and perfect for sellers who want personality, warmth, and creativity baked directly into their designs. Cottagecore designs have been trending on Etsy for over 5 years and this design trend is like a modern version of it!

7) Star Maps, Constellations & Coordinates

Star maps and constellations design trend are absolutely EXPLODING on Etsy in the last few months, and 2026 is shaping up to be their true breakout year. Buyers are leaning hard into designs that feel meaningful and personal like “the night we met” star maps, wedding night constellations, anniversary sky maps, and zodiac-inspired designs. These products tap directly into emotion and memory, which is why people are drawn to this.

What makes this trend especially powerful is how well it translates across a wide range of print on demand products. Star maps and constellation designs work beautifully on wall art, puzzles, candles, mugs, and even jewelry. There is also a HUGE surge in coordinate-based designs, using longitude and latitude to mark meaningful locations like where couples met, got married, or had their first date. It’s the perfect combination of personalization but mixing in story telling as well! Check out these current best sellers 👇

8) Romantic Goth

Romantic goth is having a major moment on Etsy. I’m not talking heavy metal or full blown goth either. Romantic goth blends Shakespearean or dramatic-style fonts with rich, dark color palettes and witchy, mystical elements that feel refined rather than harsh. It’s intentional, stylish, and far more feminine than traditional gothic designs.

This trend also incorporates graphics like black cats, subtle and tasteful skeletons, tarot card designs, celestial imagery, and really cool flame details that add edge without being aggressive. It’s moody, romantic, dark, but still elegant… think Disney villain, but chic. This design style pairs beautifully with black apparel mockups, Comfort Colors®️ Pepper, or Gildan Dark Heather garments, especially when you incorporate pops of purple, neon green, or even orange to make the design stand out. If your shop leans even slightly alternative, or if you’re looking to add something a little on the dark side, I 110% recommend leaning into this trend. It’s popping off on Etsy right now, and it’s only going to explode in 2026.
